Compress images with Image Optimizer by Elementor before offloading to cloud storage
Image Optimizer by Elementor compresses, converts, and resizes images on Elementor's own servers with no load on your hosting. Works on any WordPress site, Elementor not required. Free trial for up to 200 images. WP Media Cloud offloads the optimised files to your cloud storage provider.
Server-side optimisation on Elementor's infrastructure. No load on your host.
Image Optimizer by Elementor processes images on Elementor's dedicated servers. Your hosting server is not involved in the compression or conversion process. It works on any WordPress site whether or not you use the Elementor page builder.
Lossless and lossy compression
Choose lossless compression to retain every pixel of quality while reducing file size by removing redundant data. Choose lossy compression for greater file size reduction where a minimal quality difference is acceptable. Both modes process on Elementor's servers without touching your hosting resources.
WebP and AVIF conversion
Image Optimizer converts images to WebP or AVIF and serves the modern format to supporting browsers, with the original as a fallback for those that do not. Both formats are smaller than JPEG and PNG at equivalent quality and are recommended by Google for Core Web Vitals performance.
Bulk optimisation in the background
Run bulk optimisation across your entire existing media library without keeping a browser tab open. Processing runs in the background on Elementor's servers. Your site stays fully functional throughout and visitors are not affected.
Automatic resize on upload
Images are automatically resized to your configured maximum dimensions at the moment of upload. Oversized originals are scaled down before they land in your media library, preventing large camera photos from accumulating on your server or in your cloud storage bucket.
Original image backup
Image Optimizer saves the original unoptimised version of every image before compression. If you need to restore an image for printing, editing, or to switch compression settings, the original is available to restore at any time from the media library.
Per-size control and smart skipping
Choose which WordPress-registered image sizes are optimised to manage your credit usage. The plugin also checks images before processing and skips those that would not benefit from further compression, so credits are not spent on already-optimised files.
Credit-based. Free to start. Paid plans for larger libraries.
Image Optimizer uses a credit system. Each image size counts as one credit. A standard WordPress upload generates approximately five image sizes, so optimising one image uses approximately five credits. If you also enable WebP or AVIF conversion, each converted size uses an additional credit.
The free tier gives you 200 images total at no cost with no credit card required. This covers new sites or testing the plugin on an existing site. Once the free allowance is used, a paid subscription is needed to continue optimising new images. Paid plans provide an annual credit allowance that resets each year and cannot be rolled over. Images that have already been optimised remain optimised even if a subscription lapses.
Image Optimizer is also included as part of Elementor One, a unified subscription covering the Elementor editor, AI tools, image optimisation, email deliverability, accessibility tools, and site management under a single credit pool. For teams already using Elementor, Elementor One may be the more cost-effective route.
- Free: up to 200 images total, no credit card, unlimited sites
- Each image size = 1 credit, approx 5 credits per uploaded image
- Annual credit allowance, resets yearly, cannot roll over
- Optimised images stay optimised if subscription lapses
- Also included in Elementor One with shared monthly credits
Credit system explained
Image Optimizer compresses. WP Media Cloud offloads.
Both plugins activate independently on the same WordPress site and work together without conflict or shared configuration. Neither requires the other to function.
Install both plugins
Install WP Media Cloud and configure it with your storage provider. Install Image Optimizer by Elementor from the WordPress plugin directory and connect it to your Elementor account. Both plugins are independent and require no shared settings.
Image Optimizer compresses on upload
When an image is uploaded to WordPress, Image Optimizer sends it to Elementor's servers for compression and format conversion. The optimised file is returned to WordPress before WP Media Cloud takes over. Your hosting server handles no image processing at any point.
WP Media Cloud offloads the compressed file
WP Media Cloud offloads the already-compressed, format-converted image to your cloud storage provider. The file in your bucket has been processed by Elementor's Image Optimizer, so both compression and offloading savings apply from the same upload.
Visitors receive compressed, offloaded files
Media URLs point at your cloud storage bucket or CDN. Visitors receive compressed WebP or AVIF files served from cloud infrastructure rather than your origin server, reducing bandwidth costs and improving page load speed.
