Activating your licence
WP Media Cloud requires an active licence to configure a storage provider and offload media. Without an active licence the plugin is installed but all storage settings are locked. Activating your licence takes less than a minute.
Step 1: Find your licence key#
Your licence key is available in two places:
- Order confirmation email — sent to the email address you used at checkout immediately after purchase. Search your inbox for an email from WP Media Cloud.
- Customer dashboard — log in at wpmediacloud.com/customer-dashboard, find your order under Purchases, and copy the licence key from there.
Your licence key is a long alphanumeric string. Copy it exactly, including all characters. Do not add spaces before or after the key.
Step 2: Enter the licence key in WordPress#
In your WordPress admin, go to WP Media Cloud > Settings > Licence. Paste your licence key into the licence key field and click Activate Licence.
WP Media Cloud will connect to the licence server and verify your key. This requires an outbound internet connection from your server. If activation fails, see the troubleshooting section below.
Step 3: Confirm activation#
After a successful activation, the licence status will show as Active alongside your plan name, the number of sites used, and your renewal or expiry date. Storage provider settings will now be available to configure.
Site limits#
Each plan covers a fixed number of active WordPress installations:
- 5 sites plan: up to 5 simultaneous active sites
- 25 sites plan: up to 25 simultaneous active sites
- Unlimited sites plan: no limit
- Lifetime plan: up to 1,000 sites
A site counts against your limit from the moment you activate the licence on it. Staging sites, local development environments, and production sites all count equally. To free up a licence slot, deactivate the licence on the site you no longer need it on before activating it elsewhere.
Deactivating a site#
To deactivate WP Media Cloud on a site and free up a licence slot, go to WP Media Cloud > Settings > Licence and click Deactivate Licence. The slot becomes available immediately and you can activate on a different site straight away.
Deactivating the licence does not affect your offloaded media. Files already in cloud storage remain there and continue to be served. Only new uploads will stop being offloaded.
What happens when a licence expires#
If your annual licence expires and is not renewed, the plugin continues to function and all previously offloaded files continue to be served from cloud storage. New uploads will no longer be offloaded to cloud storage until the licence is renewed and reactivated.
To renew, log in to wpmediacloud.com/customer-dashboard and renew your plan from there. Once renewed, your licence key remains the same and no further action is needed in WordPress.
Troubleshooting activation#
If activation fails, check the following:
- Key copied incorrectly — paste the key fresh from the dashboard rather than retyping it. Leading or trailing spaces will cause the activation to fail.
- Key already in use — if you have reached your site limit, you must deactivate a site before activating on a new one. Log in to the customer dashboard to see which sites your licence is active on.
- Outbound connections blocked — WP Media Cloud must be able to reach the licence server over HTTPS. If your host blocks outbound connections, activation will time out. Contact your hosting provider to confirm outbound HTTPS is allowed.
- Key not found — confirm you are using the key for WP Media Cloud and not a key from a different Nahnu Plugins product.
If none of the above resolves the issue, submit a support request from wpmediacloud.com/support with your order number and a description of the error.
