Installation

2 min readUpdated June 27, 2026

WP Media Cloud is installed like any other WordPress plugin. It is not available on WordPress.org and must be downloaded from your WP Media Cloud account dashboard after purchase.

Step 1: Download the plugin#

Log in to your account at wpmediacloud.com/customer-dashboard/. Under your purchases, find WP Media Cloud and click Download. Save the zip file to your computer. Do not unzip it.

Step 2: Upload the plugin to WordPress#

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin at the top of the page. Click Choose File, select the zip file you downloaded, and click Install Now.

WordPress will upload and install the plugin. When it finishes you will see an installation success message.

Step 3: Activate the plugin#

Click Activate Plugin on the installation success screen, or go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, find WP Media Cloud in the list, and click Activate.

After activation, WP Media Cloud will appear in the WordPress admin sidebar. You will be prompted to enter your licence key before you can configure a storage provider.

Installing via FTP#

If you prefer to install manually or if the zip upload fails due to hosting restrictions on upload size, you can install via FTP.

  1. Unzip the plugin file on your computer.
  2. Connect to your server via FTP or SFTP.
  3. Upload the unzipped wp-media-cloud folder to wp-content/plugins/.
  4. In WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins and activate WP Media Cloud.

Updating the plugin#

WP Media Cloud checks for updates automatically using the Nahnu updater. When a new version is available, it will appear in Plugins > Installed Plugins and in Dashboard > Updates like any other plugin. Click Update Now to install the latest version.

Updates are available as long as your licence is active. If your licence has expired, the plugin will continue to function but will no longer receive update notifications.

Multisite installations#

WP Media Cloud can be network-activated on a WordPress multisite installation. When network-activated, the plugin settings are configured per subsite. Each active subsite counts as one site against your licence limit.
